The forest preservation is a key element for environmental balance and sustainability resources. In 2015, Pujolasos obtained the FSC certification, a certification that guarantees that its wood comes from sustainable management forest.
Pujolasos also has the PEFC forest certification, the most common certification in the Europe region. The company guarantees with these seals that it’s buying products from controlled forests and contribute to comating illegal logging.
In this way, Pujolasos ensures that all the projects that it carries out with its costumers comply with the demanding regulations that enforce the forests, which also adds value to the final product produced by the companies with which it works. In turn, these brands demonstrate their commitment to sustainable forest management.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Environment, Spain has 27.7 million hectares of forest area, equivalent to 54.8% of its territory. According to the latest data, during the 2005-2011 period, the average annual production of wood and firewood was 16.5 million m3 (about 3.6% of EU production).
For this reason, Pujolasos points out the importance of a monitored exploitation of forests, always in search of biodiversity conservation, benefits for society and economic profitability with this type of certification.
